HOW TO TO
Writing Structure
You are asked to write either an article or a story. It is optional. You should plan yourself from the beginning to focus on only one of them.
Here is how to write the story question.
The story should be in 4 parts:
Part 1:
You should tell the readers the who, where, why and when of the story.
Example:
‘Last summer my brother and his girlfriend went to Spain to celebrate his birthday.’
When: Last summer
Who: my brother and his girlfriend
Where: Spain
Why: to celebrate his birthday.
Part 2:
Create a simple problem which can be easily solved.
Example:
‘My father lost the car keys.’
Part 3:
Solve the above problem
Example:
‘Luckily my mother had a spare set of keys.’
Part 4:
End the story happily.
Example:
‘They all managed to get to the party’

You are asked to write 100 words, and on the answer sheet there is a certain number of lines given, so you won’t have enough lines or you can’t go to the next page to finish your story. Therefore, your writing must be concise.
Let’s Practice:
Jo looked at the map and decided to go left. He was on holiday in Spain with his girlfriend Louise to celebrate his birthday, and they were driving around the country to do some sightseeing. Suddenly he had a puncture and the car started shaking, so he had to stop the car quickly and get out to have a look. He spent the next half an hour changing the wheel, which was very difficult. Once the wheel had been changed, they carried on with their journey to the party they had arranged to celebrate his birthday with all his friends.
